Tony LaRussa remembers the late Wendy O Williams


Just prior to the start of yesterdays World Series opener, St Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa got most spectators talking when he removed his baseball cap for the singing of the national anthem. Rather than revealing the weird Pete Rose-style mushroom cut that he usually wears, LaRussa appeared to be sporting some half-grown-in Mohawk thing.

Questioned after his squad eked out a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers, the Cardinals skipper claimed he was paying his respects to Plasmatics front woman, and legendary proto-riot grrrl, Wendy O Williams. This fact became rather clear when LaRussa stripped the microphone from Scott McCreery after his painful anthem performance, and belted out an excruciating version of the Williams minor hit "I Love Sex (and Rock and Roll)"...
